“Better off dead than stuck in a maze, the centre may seem like a gift. Once you arrive it’ll strip you of your life, and you’ll wish that you never did.” Is such a great line. That’s something I love about Melanie, one simple line can have so much depth and meaning to it.

For people who dont understand: Spider web is about 'people who are addicted to the internet and making people watch them or do something on there web to get addicted to it too, so the internet will take over the world' :)

I feel like the ‘I wish not to be perceived’ line, along with her new look (that completely covers up her real face and body), and the removal of all her old posts on social media are all connected. She’s taking back herself and keeping it private, and I really appreciate that. The constant spotlight and judgement that was put on her and the lack of privacy must’ve been difficult to deal with

I feel like this song is about her experience as a famous person. She’s thinking about spiders and webs, which could be a metaphor for the World Wide Web. I think she’s thinking about how she really wanted to be discovered and worked really hard to get her self all over the web but then she realized that she didn’t want to be out there like that anymore and that it was dangerous. She wishes that she could undo it, but she can’t really do anything about it since she’s all over the web now. That could be why her new outfit completely covers up her body and makes her look like a new person because that’s the best that she could do to still do what she loves, and not be as “visible” and out there.

It’s a song about internet addiction and how it’s fun, however, it can destroy someone’s identity, and mental health. It can be a escape, but it can make you worse than when you came in. It looks interesting, but once your stuck you can never leave. The “web” is literally and metaphorically a analogy for the internet and it’s creepiest corners that no one should be able to tread.

Hands down one of my favorites from the album. The beat is so catchy and it’s addicting already.

I THRIVE for this new era of Melanie, and to think she's the same artist from my childhood that was so fun listening to, and seeing her grow and trying new things is just magnificent.
